roses everywhere

I've got a vase with roses from each rosebush!  I'm waiting to see if these will open more after a day or so.

The prettiest one is for Val, whose birthday is today.  All the other flowers I picked are for those remembered on this Memorial Day.

Singing Tower

Our day at the Singing Tower, a/k/a Bok Tower Gardens and Sanctuary.  We went to see Grandaddy and visited for a while, and then met Granny at the Tower.  It was danged hot and we didn't know we'd need hiking boots.   Next time, though!

I love, LOVE these pictures.  Some days I even amaze myself - lol.

Lightning - finally!

Finally I got some decent lightning pictures. Of course, the disclaimer is first: I was never truly in danger when I took the one in the front, it wasn't raining.  Then you'll notice that I'm inside the back porch for the two larger ones.  You can see the rain dripping off the roof also.  Safety first!  :)

I'm going to keep trying, but I like these.  Not too shabby for the first time I got some actual bolts in the shot (HA!)--

I think it will rain some more tomorrow, which is good homework readin' weather.  Three days of relaxing fun no matter what!

Grafting

I have another rosebush that has two different color blooms.  The one with the orangey blooms has 2 dark red roses coming out.  This is the grafting thing.... they get blended two colors to get one, then the next batch will come out with one of the original colors.  Makes you do a double take, though.  The last few are 3 of the 5 the cute kittens (from the 1st batch) which are still hanging around.  They are still jumpy, but if I'm fast, I can catch them right at the deer in the headlights stage.

Moon

Full moon was low and yellow when I got home from school, and then a little while later, high and white.  Gorgeous!

Bummin'

My schedule tonight got WASTED.  As in, what I planned to do wasn't what I actually did.  Hence, the bummin'

Two chuckles while I wait for my milk to freeze.

John Sam was talking to Granny about her legs.  She mentioned that they hurt sometimes.  So he told her, "Well, when people are 60, they should just sit down all the time."

Caroline was laying on the bed with me, and my stomach was gurgling.  I asked if she could hear it and she said yes.  Me:  "Do you know what that sound is?"  She cuts the eyes over without turning her head, and just to mess with her I said, "It's a baby."  She says "A baby what?"

Is the word I'm looking for touche??  lol

Online again at last

The blogger.com website has been down since last night.  I lost some posts and everyone else I know who has their blog with blogger was freaking about posts they had lost also.  Sometime in the last few hours it has been back online.  I have to post this little video clip of John Sam at his school program. It was called From the Inside Out:  A Musical Review Celebrating Positive Character through Songs and Narration.  Very positive messages; good stuff for the kids to hear.

JS doesn't even need cheat sheets to speak his lines! He enjoyed performing as much as we enjoyed watching.  After the applause, at about the 45 second mark, I do a fine job of filming the floor and recording people talking.  So it's okay to stop the tape after that.  :D

Here's what we're doing this weekend.  Sleeping in, going to Michael's, jump-starting on reading homework (I know....), putting up my trellis which I have been meaning to do for about 3 weekends now, pedicure, manicure, and any other relaxing things I can think of.

Love and xo,

Yawnnnnn

Tomorrow on my lunch hour, I'm picking up the books for my summer class.  Preordered them, and they're sitting in a bag at the bookstore waitin' on me.  :)

Tomorrow night John Sam has a program at school.  He's very excited about it.  They've practiced really hard and I can't wait to get some video.

Next time I go to Tar-zhay, I'm buying some vitamin B-12.  It seems no matter how much sleep I get, I can always sleep more. I hope the B-12 will help.  I've also been waking up at 4:30 A.M. for the last few days, and wondering what that is all about?  Pre-pausing?  Oh Lordddddddd--

Godiva Flower Box

Is it completely wrong that I bought this box of Godiva chocolates at Easter time and ate EVERY.SINGLE.ONE. all by myself just so I could get this beautiful bow?

Once in a while, it's delicious to be wrong.  I blame it on my inner scrapbooking self.

Variety Monday

I didn't want to look up which volume of minutiae I was on, hence the temporary title change.  It's still the same old ramblin'

Took this cell phone picture of the dashboard of my car at around 4:45 pm.  (Also posted it on FB so everyone on there could see the temp!)

In other news:

We got kids' meals from Chick-Fil-A and their current toy is called Amazing Academy, and there are different tools to be used to spy and solve crimes.  It sounded sorta science-y so I thought they might like them.  When they opened them, they were little mirrors with a cover.  You use them to spy on people behind you, I guess.  John Sam looked at it and said, "It's just a mirror, that's not amazing at all."

Caroline put the prong collar and long leash on her huge stuffed tiger.  She pulls it down the hallway and past her dad, who said, "What are you doing to that poor tiger?"  She answers, "She's not poor, she likes it."

Sitting on my desk right, I have four yellow roses that don't smell, and three red ones that smell heavenly.  We'll discuss the piles all around me at a later date.

Good night! xo xo

Happy Mother's Day

I had a relaxing day for my holiday.  :)  I slept in, opened my cards, made bacon at about 11:30 a.m. (*gasp*), got lunch from Jason's Deli around 2:30.  Then I cut some roses off my rose bushes, took a little doze, then went to Aunt Cheryl's for John Sam to play the Wii, I mean visit, ate some cake and ice cream--the kids all think every time we see each other we must have cake & ice cream!  Came home and made nachos, then Caroline wanted to use my camera to take pictures of me on Mother's Day.  She started out giggling, but then after a couple of tries, she started getting serious about getting me to do particular poses.  My favorite one is the one of all three of us.  Happy Mother's Day to all the moms we know and love--

National Scrapboook Day 2011

Since I haven't done any real scrapbooking in quite some time, I decided to post some of my all-time favorite layouts in observance of National Scrapbook Day!!!

A lot of these are layouts that I submitted to contests and magazines for publication, but they weren't chosen.  I was sad that I didn't get any of these published.  When I look back on these pages, I realize.... I'm a darn good scrapbooker.  Good pictures, good colors, good writing.  Made with creativity and love.

Happy National Scrapbook Day 2011!
