Quotations 'Ho

Recently some quotes have really amused me, moved me, or made me chuckle.  So tonight I'm letting someone else do the blogging as I'm too dog tired to type original stuff.  Double ha!

I would be the most content if my children grew up to be the kind of people who think decorating consists mostly of building enough bookshelves. (Anna Quindlen)

The most decisive actions of our life - I mean those that are most likely to decide the whole course of our future - are, more often than not, unconsidered.  (Andre Gide)

Tell it to me backwards.  (from the TV series Lie to Me)

There are many things that we would throw away if we were not afraid that others might pick them up.  (Oscar Wilde)

Those who believe in telekinetics, raise my hand.  (Kurt Vonnegut)

When ideas fail, words come in very handy.  (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe)

Keep that sense of humor!

One funny from each kid~

Yesterday morning when I woke Caroline up, the first thing she said was, "Oh, I forgot to tell you.  I have an incisor tooth loose."

Tonight John Sam said he ended the school day in the race.  "Except somehow I got into the pits for apparently no reason."

Scripting Errors

Not feeling any love when I try to post and I get a script error message blocking me from my own blog.  Three.Times.

Wondering why it's only on one computer but not the other?  However, not planning on wondering too long ;-0

Nothing to blog

The only reason I'm blogging tonight is to announce that I am going to bed before midnight on this Monday night.  And.....the earlier before midnight, the better.

Sweet dreams

Valentine's Dance P.S.

P.S.  Yes, I see the photos aren't that great.  The lighting isn't good, and when you click on the photo to make it bigger, it looks worse.  Just wanted to put it out there that I'm aware I'm not in the running for photog of the year, lmao

Valentine's Dance

From tonight's dance.... apparently we've gotten over the not-wanting-to-pose-for-pictures phase.   xoxo

Minutiae Musings Vol. 3

Spelling AND vocabulary lesson today.  "Minutia" means a minor detail.  It looked incorrect to me, so I Googled "minutia" to verify spelling and usage.  Turns out the version with the "e" is plural, which means (thank heaven) I've been using it correctly.  Now that I'm on the third installment of said musings -

Saw a funny placard hanging from a real estate sign.  It said Happy Seller.  I didn't realize the homeowners' disposition could also be a big selling point.  LMAO!

Lately I've been watching John Sam play the Nintendo Wii.  I've discovered that one of the races I like watching is called Rainbow Road.  It really is almost as fun as playing when you're watching someone with John Sam's playing abilities. He is an expert! He told me he can show me the easy races so I can learn my way around in case I want to start playing it too.

Caroline started a bean sprout at school, and she put it in the side pocket of her backback to bring home.  The little leaves didn't stand a chance, but the roots were still in good shape.  It was dry, too, so I added some water to perk it up.  Caroline saw me watering it and how it looked.  She said, "You can't just tape that back together."  I told her we could still probably save it.  She doesn't think so, but we'll give it a try.  We won't be needing any tape, though.

Tomorrow is the Valentine's Dance. Not sure if I'll take the camera, last year I just used the cell phone camera.  The kids are getting pretty vocal about the quantity of photos they have to pose for.  Might just have to get some candids.  It'll be interesting to see what dress/outfit Miss Thang tries to come up with.  John Sam just wants to wear his red shirt and he'll be good to go.  Seems like when it comes to clothes, it's easier to be a boy.  Pardon me, a young man.

I am now going to bed, not just saying I'm going to bed so I can spend an hour on the way there tidying up the minutiae of this house.  ;-)

Hope we will all have a wonderful Friday!

Seven Thousand and One Views

Heeeeeeeeeeee!  7,001 views on the blog :)

Posting on the go

This is the first time I've blogged with my laptop actually ON my lap!  Everything that needed doing tonight is done, and I feel satisfied but out of touch.

I hope my sissy will be on the mend soon.  Also, a belated birthday wish to my friend Susie.

Tomorrow is another day!  :)

Rollins College Hamilton Holt School

This evening I attended Rollins College's fast track application night.  I have a few classes to finish to get my bachelor's degree, and I'm weary of sitting around telling myself how hard it will be, how much it will cost, and how that piece of paper doesn't really matter.  Taking action instead of using my words, I believe it's called.  :)
The normal application fee was waived (feels good to keep that $35), and I left my paperwork and essay with the academic advisor who'll call me tomorrow and let me know when registration begins.

In need of a new blinkie

On some of the message boards I read, most have their own set of blinkies, from a laughing face to an eyeroll to a cool dude with sunglasses.

I don't have one that has a pissy face, and darned if I don't need it right this second.

Peace
Out

Around Our House

Photos from around the house this past weekend.  Granny Old, these were taken before your "stop growing" request was received.   :)

This one has me wondering---is Da Boss rubbing off on the Warden?  lmao!  Picture isn't that great, but this new cooktop rocks the fab.  All four of these burners work.  Yay!

Awesome game, and a well-deserved win for the Saints.  They're America's sweetheart team.  What a feeling!

Shoe Modeling

Caroline models her newest pair of foxy shoes, purchased with her Toys 'R Us gift card.  These came with 5 other pairs! I don't know if the Band-Aid is legit or just for show.  I asked if she was going to be a shoe model, and she said (kinda impatiently), "I AM a shoe model."

Duh.

I've been messing with the blog backgrounds and keep changing my mind.  Sorry for the mess - I'm not sure what I want, but when I find it, I'll stop fiddling.  :)

All Systems A-Ok

Got home last night between 6 and 7, I think, and went straight to bed.  Slept most of the night off and on.  I pretended to watch NCIS....at one point I remember thinking, it's past 9 because I hear LL Cool J's voice. It felt strange to be asleep for so long.

It's a good thing I took today off to convalesce.  I was like an old cat, going around taking little naps all over the house whenever I felt like it.  I caught Tokyo sleeping in the sun in her chair, too.  Some big exciting stuff happens at home while I'm working, it seems.

The doctor said everything went great and I'll be back to my ornery self in a few days.  I'm sure everyone can hardly wait - heeeeee!

A few prayers, please

Having the little procedure done tomorrow, so I'll accept prayers and good wishes, please and thank you.

I'm enjoying a Butterfinger and watching Two and a Half Men.  I can't eat after midnight (which I never do anyway), and I'm turning in early so I can get up early and take care of bidness ;-)
