Last day of January

A lot of the scrapbook organizing got done today!  Woohoo!  Not done enough for a photo, ha.  Also did bathroom and vacuumed.  Feels good and "normal" to clean.  Gotta get off to bed so I can get a jump on the day before it gets a jump on me ;-0

Crime Scene Tape Part 2

Here's my project for this weekend.  May I regretfully say that it looks so much worse in real life.  ;-)

Things are tough all over

Before the kids and I went to movie night at their school, we went to Burger King to get kids' meals.  I got one too, and when I opened the wrapper, this is what I saw.

I was so surprised about it, I couldn't even eat it.  I decided to take a picture of it, post it here, and let Burger King know I'm very sorry about their tough times.  I really hope this was just a case of me getting the wrong size burger or the wrong size bun.

Various

With this post, I'm caught up on all my online connections: Twitter, Facebook, myspace.com, and here at the blog. Uploaded some pix on myspace; they were kinda old but ones I liked.  Speaking of pictures, I'm going to take some more closeups of the kids this weekend.  I'm not that good with the zoom lens yet.  I need more practice!

Hope everybody has a great Friday!  I'm having lunch with Chris (sans all children), and I'm looking forward to catching up with her.  :)

Best Wishes for Conan O'Brien

I know this bit about Conan O'Brien has been making the rounds, but I wanted to make sure nobody I know missed it.  This was from his sign-off on the last night of The Tonight Show.

Conan's Farewell

He has so much class and such a positive attitude. It's contagious. What he said really touched me, and he is absolutely, totally 100% spot on.  To repay the favor, I'm sending him an old Irish blessing:

May the most you wish for, be the least you get.
May the best times you've ever had be the worst you ever see.

=)

Squirrel Rescue

The teacher assistant at the kids' school found a baby squirrel on the ground at their playground.  She's been trying to feed it and help it get stronger.  Of course, all the kids are into helping their tiniest new friend.

JS took his camera to school and took these pictures.  I thought it was very appropriate to see the squirrel resting on the "universal hospital new baby blankie."

The Shower List

I've been encouraging the kids to write down the steps to develop routines for different parts of their day (before school, after school, bedtime, etc.).  Miss CG shared her "Shower List" with me.  Hope it makes you laugh, too!

My turn to call

No matter who I'm thinking about, it's my turn to call them.  *wink*  Since I found the energy to put the Christmas stuff away, now I've been cleaning (nesting, rearranging, or upgrading Feng Shui, whatever it's called).  It's working pretty well for me--not so much for the people I haven't talked to.

The kids didn't have school yesterday, but our office was open.  I'm not sure I ever understood how mothers who work get all the stuff done that needs doing!

I've got a photo of a list that Caroline made that I want to scan and put up.  Maybe tonight after my 8:00 pm date with the new boyfriend, LMAO.

Jan 18 2010

Quickie post to let everyone know I am still alive, but not alive and blogging, LOL.

Finally got the holiday decor back into the garage.  Whew!  A couple more days and I woulda just said, hey, leave it till December ;-0

Turning in early despite new shows on must-see-TV tonight on CBS.  I'll get them online, or catch them when they come back around.

Night, peeps!

Scrap Sneaks

I feel a little silly calling the post "sneaks" when it's really only a preview of scrapbook layouts I've been getting ready to finish for about 6 weeks.  No new product or any scrappy goodness to share, lol.  I'm tickled that I've gotten pretty close to actually finishing some pages.

One of my girlfriends gave me this teensy red vellum envelope!  So adorable!  She bought a purse and it was inside one of the pockets.

Tomorrow is Friday, so it's going to be a happy day. :)

Baby New Year

Caroline was still wearing her New Year's get-up on a few days after January 1.  She was not in the mood for pictures, so the only shot that wasn't blurry was this one where she looks like she has a toothache.  *sigh*

Thursday Check-in

A quick drive-by post to say Happy Thursday!  I've got a few pictures on the camera that I haven't downloaded; hope to post those tonight before CSI begins.

Brought to you by the word NO

Sheesh.  For every question today, the answer is no.

Not only a blog slacker, but also a housework slacker, an interior decorator slacker, and a homework-checker slacker.

1) I haven't vacuumed since (I think) Christmas Eve.
2) Christmas tree and surrounding decor?  Still up (she says with total embarrassment).
3) JS's homework had answers in every single blank, so it's complete, but not sure if it's correct.

Had to work late last night to help with a big ole mass mailout.  Left the office at 7:15, got home to a phat plate of chicken & cheese nachos courtesy of the husband.  Then NCIS and a little bout of insomnia until about 12:30 a.m., and back up this morning to start another day.

Hope your Wednesday is a wonderful one!  xoxo

KC and the Sunshine Band

KC and the Sunshine Band's song "Shake Your Booty" makes the kids laugh!  They don't really know the rest of the words, but they can sure say the word BOOTY very loud!  We had a good time laughing & singing while driving to school.

:)

No snow this time

No snow as of 10:54 p.m.  There isn't any more rain coming, so unless it stays cold until the next batch of rain arrives, we're going to have to catch the snow somewhere else.

Because it BETTER not stay this cold for much longer....

On Snow Watch

The weather people have been saying it's going to be so cold today, if it happens to rain, we'll be getting snow!  OMG! On the news this morning, they showed pictures that people sent in with small snowmen on the hoods of their cars! (That was from Ocala, I think.)  One was so tiny that his arms were made of toothpicks, haha.

So right now we're on snow watch.  From the weather radar, it looks to me that the rain has missed or will miss us.  Wah!  Of course, since the weather is always subject to change, there's always a chance that we're going to make our own snowman!

Paw Pedicure

Over a week ago--when the kids were at home during Christmas vacation--I noticed that Tokyo's toenails were painted.  I asked Caroline if she had painted them, and she said, "Yes!  Red on her right and blue on her left."

I hope Miss Jones doesn't begin putting on airs because of this.....

Farewell to Erica Lee

My favorite radio morning show team was broken up today with the unexpected firing of Erica Lee from MIX 105.1.  Her co-host (who sounded devastated, really) said the station had told her they were going in a different direction.

Um, that would be south.  *thumbs down*

Erica was like the best girlfriend ever--a great example of Girl Power.  She was smart, opinionated, and so very funny. She was straightforward and didn't mind sharing her views, yet she made it clear they were HER views and acknowledged that some people wouldn't agree with her and that was all right with her.   She was considered a steadfast fixture in a whole lot of peoples' morning schedule.

I know the other DJs in the morning can still do a great job.  It's going to be a lot different, though. Thanks, Erica Lee, for a memorable 19 years!

Glittery

Very chilly-willy the last few days.  This morning my car had ice on it.  It looked like it had silver glitter all over it.  Pictures aren't too great but it sure was pretty!  I guess I can always relate everything to scrapbooking *somehow*

I've heard we might even get some snowflakes tomorrow night.  I'll take a bunch of pix to ensure one or two good ones, lol.

Headaches and Calendars

Had a headache yesterday.  You know, the kind that sorta subsides when you take something but never really goes away all the way, and then when the 6-8 hours goes by, it's still there?!  So I broke out the Motrin 800 at about 2:00 am and finally got back to sleep.  This morning I was a little afraid to move because I was skeered it would still be throbbing.  Thankfully, it wasn't.

I was happy that I wasn't behind and under the gun at Christmas time.  I do feel behind now, though. It feels weird that it's already Jan. 6 and I do not have all of my new calendars hung up.  I wrote the birthdays, anniversaries, etc. on the main one we hang in the kitchen, and I put up on in the bedroom, and dat's it for now.

Shall try to post later with a picture or two, perhaps.  :)

Jan 4 2010

Not off to a very good start on the blogging in the new year.  How about some useless stats to compensate? ;-)

In 2009 my total number of posts was 324.  I divided that by 365 days per year, and the amount came out to .8876.  Or, to put it a different way, I blogged roughly 89% of the time.  The fact that some days were multiple posts to keep up the post count was completely disregarded for these calculations.

Still ... not bad for an old blog slacker!

Wishing a happy birthday with love to Papa (kids singing in background and asking about ice cream) !!!

2010

The end of a thing,
is never the end,
something is always being born,
like a year or a baby.
