The Wind Beneath My Wings

Lots of people cheered me on today!  I am so happy and proud that my family was able to watch me walk The Walk.  They are The Wind Beneath My Wings.  Love you all so much!!

Mother Nature's Encore

Last night around 10:45, I heard a minute or so of rumbling and loud crashing.  I got my floodlight and went into the backyard, and yep......a large tree in my neighbor's yard had broken.  It fell from his side on our mutual fence and landed in my backyard.  When I look through the fence, I can't see any of his backyard.  Huge tree trunk is nearly horizontal, and branches are everywhere. The section of the tree where Mr./Mrs. Hoots sit is still there, but it's out in the open more than it was before, so I am not sure if the owls will still consider my backyard their summer home.

A gentle reminder that yesterday was Earth Day, ya'll.

Even in the demise of nature, there is beauty

2013 Earth Day

I made a tiny terrarium today in honor of Earth Day.  It turned out great:

Disbelief #Boston Marathon Bombing

I'm so sad right now, so angry, so disappointed, so disheartened.  No matter what a person's political affiliation, religion, skin color, or gender, this event is shedding light on more than one problem that needs to be addressed in this country.  So many people have been affected by tragedy this year, and every time another incident happens, I feel more sadness and more anger.  And then my next thought is, there but for the Grace of God, go we.

Pinterest Influence

I've been spending so much [unemployment] time "pinning" things..... and the influence of Pinterest has set in.

It's a great idea, really.  Empty hangers in the closet?  Yet another of my peeves.  So I'm loving the spring rod that holds those little beasts in one place and it's right by the washer & dryer.  Score!

I wonder if NatGeo is hiring?

All these were taken thru my back window using my zoom lens.  The 2nd shot looks like a turkey a little bit, but it's the owl.  I love the sun worship shots--you'll know them when you see them.

Blog Sabbatical Has Ended - March 21, 2013

I'm guessing I need to send up some red smoke or something to signify that I'm going to get back to blogging regularly.  I miss it and have felt out of sorts not doing it, although now I'm glad to be able to say that taking a break was a good thing.

Here's a quote from Paolo Cohelo that sums up what seems to have been a recurring theme in the family for a while.  "Life has a way of testing a person's will, either by having nothing happen at all or by having everything happen all at once."

On another note, I have many photos to post. More violet & orchid photos, more owl photos, and photos of writers I met at this year's Winter with the Writers program at Rollins.  And I still need to get my "best of" posts together.

Working on both my English major portfolio and my Creative Writing portfolio.  Editing is the name of the game at this time ;-)
