So happy to celebrate your birthday today!  Always know how much you are loved.  :)

Rollins College Scholarship Night

Here I am at the fancy schmancy dinner for scholarship recipients.  The food was tasty except for the raspberry tea.  I even had a half cup of coffee after dinner like real grownups do.  lol

I am a lucky English major who appreciates the generosity of a scholarship.  Woot-woot!

Alexander Pope

Listen up, buddy.  I acknowledge your talent with the unnecessarily long, I mean, epic poems, but right now I am cursing you because my assignment is to imitate 10 lines of your signature heroic couplets.  And it's harder than it looks.  Even if you are one of the greatest English writers ever, I'm starting the rumor that writing heroic couplets is for pompous ass showoffs.  ;-)

9.10.11

Caroline decided to take certain Kathy Perry song lyrics very literally.  It's the one that says:  There's a pounding in my head, glitter all over the room, pink flamingos in the pool............So when she sang the song with her microphone in her room, she used powdery scrapbook glitter (that sticks to everything so it can get tracked throughout the house, breezeway and yard) as a real prop during rehearsal.

Then she decided she'd vacuum it up, only she has never used the vacuum before.  She did her room, the hallway, and this section by the front door.  When I took this picture, she told me not to take her picture because vacuuming wasn't that much fun.  Notice the slippers!  ha!

Here is John Sam, multi-tasker:  Holding the remote, feet on the couch, and talking to cousins on my cell phone about Nintendo, all while watching something apparently quite riveting on the TV.

P.S.  I had to use today's date in the blog title because of the sequence and because of the geek in me.  I did it last year too!  ;0

9-10-2011 Single, Double

I'm going to show these orchid blooms to my friend at work!  I don't think the one she has by her window has ever bloomed since I've been there.  Its roots are way longer than the ones I have, though.  I think the roots are supposed to look more like the ones her plant has instead of the smaller ones on my plant.

First one yellow beauty came out, but the other wasn't ready to bloom yet.  Now they are both flowering and instead of facing the same direction, they are turned outward from each other.  Makes for an interesting photo.  I see more buds coming out on the stem.  I enjoying keeping an eye on them and seeing how they progress.

I love looking at these :)

Pinterest

Remember when I said I'd never get on Facebook but then I did?  I wasn't really into Twitter either, but I've gotten back into it since I started following some people.  And now there's Pinterest.

It's a virtual bulletin board, and you copy & paste stuff onto your bulletin boards.  You can put your own pictures or you can "pin" them from other websites.  I didn't like the idea of it at first, but now I'm all hooked on it.  Some people have the most amazing stuff.  If you like Pinterest and want an invite, let me know and I will invite you.  :)

The following is a quite immodest plea for followers on this blog, my Twitter, or my Pinterest.  PLEASE follow me!  I would love more visitors/readers/followers!  The links are on the right hand side, towards the bottom.

Let me know if you want to see more of something (like scrapping) or less of something (like no more flower pictures ever).

Grrrr

Good fortune during the daylight, then drag home to the toxic environment that is every night at this house.  The kids are fine and the dog is fine--they are the only nonpoisonous things in this house.

I am over it.

Again.

Remember that list?

I told you I'd find the list I made about being a compulsive list maker.  :)

Step 1:   Make the list.
Step 2:   Misplace the list.
Step 3:   Spend a freakishly long period of time searching for the list.
Step 4:   Make a new list in a pissy mood, knowing I'm forgetting things that were on my original list.
Step 5:   Make a sweep of the house in a last ditch effort to locate the first list.
Step 6:   Take Prilosec before I leave to go to whatever store & buy the items on my list.
Step 7:   Wander around each aisle of the store to try to remember what I'm forgetting.
Step 8:   Give up and check out.
Step 9:   Come home and put all the stuff up.
Step 10:  Go to desk to log the receipts in my check register.
Step 11:  Sit down, move a few things, and find the old list in one minute or less . . . and immediately notice two items I didn't get because they weren't on the new list.

The reason I have a notebook in my purse, one at my office, and one with my school stuff is because I have to write it down as soon as I think of it or it's forgotten.  Sometimes combining all the lists into a single list is tedious, but I love feeling efficient.  And I definitely LOVE crossing stuff off the lists!  I'm sure there must be other people who do what I do--put stuff on their lists that they've already done just so they can cross them off.  ;-)

Clearing up and cracking up

Apparently confession is good for the soul.  I feel better today.  To borrow from Bill Maher, "Hey, I'm just reporting."  Meaning, I was just reporting my thoughts yesterday.

What I wanted to say was how startled I am sometimes when I see myself in a mirror or window.  I look my age instead of the way I picture myself based on how I feel on the inside.  If I avoid my reflection, though, I can still picture myself as the younger version of myself.  The better one, lol.

I do know true beauty comes from within. I think that means figuring out I'm more than just what I look like and being okay with that.   It would also be a good thing to be comfortable enough to see myself as I actually look and discover that my outside already matches my inside.

I also know I have friends and family who love me and support me even if I look like a troll.  Unconditional love is like that, and it never, ever gets wrinkles or gray hair.  :)

Two quips before I sign off and slap on some moisturizer, lmao!

Caroline, to John Sam as we waited in Chick-Fil-A driveup:  One person does all the work really fast, and the rest of them just pass it down.

Me:  John Sam, do not eat Cheerios when I am making dinner.
JS:  Mom, I'm STARVING!
Me:  Son, you are not starving.
JS:  Well, I'm something similar!
