Paper cupcake holders

I got a picture of some unique paper cupcake holders from this website but I couldn't find the link directly to them.  Aren't they gorgeous?  If I can find them, I'm going to try to order some.  For those who are getting cupcakes in the near future  ;-)

Someone is 18 today :)

Happy Birthday C.M.G.! May your special wishes come true..... Hope you have a wonderful day.  xoxo

Wed 5.26.2010

I know I've been MIA on the blog.  I scoured the photo folders to see if I had any unposted pictures to balance out the long stretch between this post and the last.

I'm really loving my class. I'll be starting book 2 this weekend.  I think I've decided on my research paper project. So I'll be doing a little - gasp! - research on it.  Cracking myself up here....

I'm a lot busier these days, and somehow I seem to be getting more done. It'll be be nice when the kids get out of school and their routine can be a little less rigid.

Right now the Magic are up by 13 against the Celtics. When we win this series, we will be the first team in NBA history to come back from an 0-3 deficit and win four in a row.  GO MAGIC!!!

Signing off now with the aforementioned photo, taken by "Daddy" -

The Time Machine

Tuesday I had lunch with one of the ladies I work with.  She's a working mom, just like me, and we were chatting about balancing career/marriage/children/life.  She told me the coolest thing and I wanted to share it.

She said her car was her time machine.  When she gets into the car, she drives to work to be Career Woman.  After work, she gets in the car and drives home..... and then she is Mamita to Baby Justin. :)

They are kept separate because of her time machine.  That way no matter where she is, she is focusing on the present and not lamenting her situation or multi-tasking to the point of exhaustion.  And we mommies and working girls know a little about exhaustion, lol.  In between, she travels in time ... in her silver car.

:)

In Front

I made this layout using pictures taken by my friend Kelly Borsheim.  It seems the picture of it has a weird sepia tint to it, but in real life the layout is gray, white, silver and black.  When I started to do the journaling, I noticed the date of the pictures was May 2003.  Ahem, who'd believe seven years could pass before I scrapbooked these photos? LMAO!  I waited to post this page until today because it's the same date as Kelly's pictures except for the year.  A little smile from the Universe on that one~

FHB trivia:  I don't like the way my hands look (never have).  But in these photos they don't look so awful, and I'm glad to have a picture or two that shows them.   'Cause I make a lot  of different things with these bony crooked fingers, lol.

(title left intentionally blank)

Haha, no title because this is just a fluff post to do a little rambling and keep up the ole count on the ticker.

My class last night was great!! Loved the professor, she was full of energy and had a good sense of humor.  What we're going to be talking about is a little different than what I thought from the class description, but that's okay.  I can tell I'm going to love the class.  I was sitting with the other students and we got going on one of the prof's questions, and I felt a little giddy.  Like, these are my people kind of giddy.

Dorky, I know.  =)

Still, I'm very excited about learning more about subjects I'm already interested in and which have meaning for me.  That is very UN-dorky!!!

Scrapbooking on Sunday Part 1

I've been on quite the little manic run today, bwa-ha-ha-ha.  Load 5 in the washer, load 6 in the dryer, second half of towels will go in last thing. As of my posting time, the *Magic* are down by 7 with two minutes to go.  Argh.

A couple of pages to share.  I have no idea what is UP with the layouts I take pictures of always looking crooked.  How can they looked tilted when they are laying flat on the table?! Big life mystery.

The Unexpected Birthday Gift

PSA: I only include a list of the products I used to make my layouts because I don't want anyone thinking I'm trying to scraplift, steal, bootleg, or otherwise not give credit for anything. I  also do it because I like to give props to those who make the supplies I use or the people who inspire me and my creativity.

R-Card

Last post about college, I swear!  Here is my R-Card, a fancy name for my ID card.  All the registration details are handled, and I even remembered the secret parking lot in the back which is right next the building where my classes will be.  :)

You'll also notice that I've gone back to bangs.  Mostly to cover up the forehead wrinkles, lol.  A couple of people have told me I look *younger* so I'll take that.

Hope to be back later with some layouts, but don't hold it against me if I don't get them up in timely fashion.

Any semblance?

Most everyone agrees that John Sam looks like a mini version of his dad, and I definitely think that as well.  Once in a while, though, I think he looks like me.  My sister's mother laughed at me and said I only wished JS looked like me.  But she is incorrect and I present Exhibit A:

I was almost five years old because it was my sissy's first birthday, hence the bow. I still remember her pink and white cake!  I must sheepishly acknowledge that yes, this photo is also proof that I've always had Reggie Miller ears, ha!  Just one of the reasons my hair is longer now.

Have a wonderful Thursday!  xoxo

New Decal

I got a new decal for the car.  Do you like it?  =)

I bought books for my classes which start next Monday.  I'm a little anxious about the time factor and rebalancing the schedule.  So I'm going to wing it and see where I can flex so I don't get grouchy, heeeee!

btw, Fiat Lux is a Latin phrase that means "Let there be light," and is often used for its metaphorical meaning of dispelling ignorance.  You know I like that~

Salt Scrub

I've been making my own salt scrub and I love it. It's easy, cheap and practical, so I've been giving a batch to everybody, lol. I found these extra cute jars on sale at Pier 1 Imports. They had bath pearls in them, but some were melted and had leaked inside the jars, and (just between us) the scent wasn't that pleasant. I dumped out the stinky stuff and rinsed them and put in the scrub mixture. The lid has decorative holes, and because it's made of plastic, it won't matter if it gets wet in the shower--it can be washed out and refilled.  I didn't put fragrance in mine, but I saw essential oils in the big "M" craft store and at one of the health food stores.

Let me know if you want your own batch....

Happy Mother's Day 2010

Wishing a wonderful day to all the moms out there.  Today's post is all about mothers, and here is the warning: If you find genealogy boring, might as well click on the "x"

Me and Mom (top)
Me and Mom's mother, Grandma Daniels (bottom)
Gram Haas (my dad's mother)
My grandfather's mother  (left)
My gram's mother (right)
Me and JSB (6 mos.)
Me and CGB (4 mos.)
Me with my son and daughter (Easter 2003)

It was a lot of fun looking at the kids' baby scrapbooks.  Pointing out that I have on red in all three photos of the Baumgardners, lol. I guess it's all right to be nostalgic and sentimental on Mother's Day.    xoxoxoxoxoxoxo to my mom and all the other moms in my life~

Happy Birthday on Cinco de Mayo, Tokyo!!!

Today is Miss Tokyo Jones' 4th Birthday!  She prefers Milkbones to frozen margaritas, so she'll be getting plenty of what she wants!

Here she is sporting her brand new collar since she outgrew the other one.

I found a sweet little poem that I would like to dedicate to our beloved canine girl.

Second Dog
by Lee Avery

Sometimes I look for traits in you
Of other dogs you never knew--
Dogs who loved me all their days
And understood in special ways.
But that's not fair to you, my elf,
You're not a substitute, but yourself.
You've dried the tears and eased the pain
And tugged my laughter home again.
Yet at times, puppy, I almost start
When your eyes recall them to my heart.
You'll never lack for love, it's clear--
Because of them, you're twice as dear.

Happy Birthday T-Jones!

Countdown to Summer

I found this in John Sam's pocket while toiling.  It would seem he's kinda anxious for summer . . . :)

Queen of Toiling

Had to hang up some permanent press so it wouldn't need ironing. Now that it's done, the Queen of Toiling is calling it a night.

National Scrapbooking Day Treats

I went to Scrappy Boutique on National Scrapbooking Day.  The store was full of scrappers and buyers, and it was nice of the kids to play with the wooden dollhouse in the back so that I could go around the store and get some brand new goodies from Jenni Bowlin, October Afternoon, My Mind's Eye, ZvaCreative.com, and Webster's Pages!  Also got some (more) Bazzill cardstock.

There was a layout created by one of the gals who works at the store that I thought was really pretty, so I took a picture of it with my phone (NOT an iPhone!) and can't wait to "lift" it.  I'll post them both. Right now I have about 4 new layouts all laid out in ScrapbookCenter.  I've decided to try to start scrapbooking on my lunch hour instead of coming home, making my sandwich, and then doing housework until it's time for me to go back to the office.  After this week I'll let everyone know how that's working for me, lol.
