Comedy Central Tuesday

I laughed a lot today.  :)

On my morning radio station, Mix 105.1, every weekday they have a version of the old game show $25,000 Pyramid.  The DJ gives clues about a certain category, and the caller has to name the category using a specific word.  One of the rules is that one clue must begin with "I am . . . " and the correct answer format has to be "What so and so would say."

So today Dana was the DJ and the first category was herbs.  She said basil and oregano, and the caller said spices, but she kept giving clues since the word was herbs.  Dana said oregano again, and the caller goes, "Things that look like marijuana?"  Total silence except for the producer falling out laughing but trying not to, and the snappy background music.  They pulled it together since the game clock was still ticking and went on to the next category, which was I am a dictator.  Dana gave a great description of it.  "I make all the rules and I don't want or care about your opinion, and you're going to do what I say no matter what."  And the caller goes, "What Nancy Pelosi would say?"

I don't remember the rest of the game because I was laughing so hard.  That caller needs a weekly guest spot for sure.  He only won $10 in the game, but he's definitely going to be on the "Best of Mix 2010" when it comes out.

The last thing I read on the way to work was a bumpersticker on a big septic tank truck that said Driver carries no cash, he is married.

Like I said, Comedy Central Tuesday :)

National Disaster Search Dog Foundation

Today in Target I saw a service dog helping a lady in a wheelchair. The dog was steady and patient, had a wise look and was well trained in assisting her.  I thought about how he was her partner and friend, and that they were a good team.  I also thought of the people who trained him . . .  to give him away to the lady I saw.   Lots of lives are touched every day because of the efforts of a myriad of great groups associated with service animals.

Who can resist this puppy and his mission to help find people?

I am alive March 28 2009

Still around, just reading other peoples' blogs instead of posting on my own and doing housework. It's a short work week for me and that is always good :)

Blankie Love

First, here is the picture I promised that the toothless girl did not want me to take:

And the next few are evidence that a mama dog and her blankie is a beautiful thing.  "Daddy" was pretending he was going to get the blankie, so Miss Jones had to pretend she was going to growl and/or bite.  She's way too sweet to look too fierce, but she tried.  Last one shows the blankie safe where it belongs.

Happy Wednesday Night! xoxo

Incisor Update

This morning Caroline's loose incisor tooth came out.  First thing she said was, "NOW I GET A DOLLAR!"

As expected, adorable pictures to follow tonight

Insert "WTF?" icon here

I wasn't going to blog tonight, until I turned on the news. Some networks are reporting the health care reform bill has passed.  I am feeling too anxious and too angry to think clearly.  There had better be a lot of 'splaining tomorrow. Specifics have been hard to come by lately, and I've got problems with that.

My grandchildren's wallets are going to have problems with it too.

Cookin' Love

By far, my favorite part of Saturday is waking up, looking at the clock (7:23 a.m.), and snuggling back down for another little doze.  John Sam and Caroline came in to sneak under the covers with me.  "Let's make a mommy sandwich," I said, which is our family shorthand for them laying on each side of me.

"Yep, we're cookin' love," says Caroline.

Indeed!

Letters to the EB

We hope Santa Claus won't mind if the Easter Bunny gets letters, too.  Apparently JS and CG want to make sure their Easter wishes are easy to grant! Caroline actually had out a flyer from the newspaper showing all the candy.  And isn't it awful how mean we are to John Sam?!   ;-)

Updated Self Portrait

The Halloween picture was getting old, and today was a fairly good hair day.  Here's an updated self portrait that I've been uploading all over ;-)

The Tree at the Park

A picture from the cell phone that I forgot to post!

It was cool how they ran up the hill and jumped when they got to the top--such a kid thing!  I like that the tree is very big and makes them look kinda little.

Post count needs to increase

The post count for March is quite pitiful.  I've been taking lots and lots of pictures so I can post 3 or 4 times in one day on several different days to make it look like I've been maintaining the blog.

heeeeeeee!

After haircuts today, we're going to play and enjoy the sun.  Two days of rain is enough to make anybody grouchy (even me).

:)

Three days of testing and all he got was

this free T-shirt!

Way to go, JS, for gettin' it done.  Caroline was your number 1 cheerleader, and Mom and Dad are right behind her.  We love you and are very, very proud of you!

FCAT Day 2

Best thing about FCAT week?  No homework! Second best thing today?  John Sam's favorite for dinner - ravioli.  Caroline had her favorite, too - tacos.  Tomorrow is the last day of testing, and we're looking forward to a stress-free Thursday night.  Maybe a little Mario Kart and Wii watching?  xoxo

FCAT Day 1

One day of testing down, two to go.  This has been a busy week for all of us so far. Bedtime for everyone right now.

Getting reacquainted with Mr. Sun

Today was a true Florida day - sunny, cool, no clouds, minimal wind.  We went to the park near our house.  The plan was to walk on the sidewalk all the way around the park and then come home and eat lunch.  It was so nice to be outside and get some fresh air and sunshine!  We got back in the car and on the way out I said, "We'll pack a picnic lunch next time and bring a blankie and y'all can run around afterwards and I'll read my magazine."  John Sam said, "I have a better idea.  Why don't we do that right now?"

And we did!

There he is.... blazing the trails. There she is....right behind him....holding her purse.  Just in case. ;-)

Here are some closeups I took of them while I was laying on the ground.  Super cute kids on a super fun day!  Spring break is just around the corner.

Trying to get what they want

I overheard the stinkers-in-cahoots about 3 days ago.  John Sam was coaching Caroline to do this or that so she would look sadder, and then maybe Mom would say yes or we'll see about [insert basically any request].  After I laughed and laughed to myself, I made sure I didn't let on when they came out.  I was very serious while JS giggled and told Caroline to show me.  Here is the perfected look they came up with together:

Welcome March!

I can hardly believe it's already March.  Didn't I just take down in the Christmas tree?  I look at the calendar today at work and plan spring break/Easter vaction and Labor Day weekend. While I'm at it, I go ahead and check the dates for end of the year. Sort of pre-planning to the actual planning.

All because it's already March :)
